Telegram hiring Android developer

In a move that’s stirring excitement across the developer community, Telegram has announced a rare opportunity that could transform the life of one talented Android developer. Known for its secure messaging and slick interface, the company is now turning heads for a very different reason and it’s a global contest with a life-changing reward.

Telegram hiring Android developer

The announcement came straight from Telegram’s founder, Pavel Durov, who shared the news on X, formerly Twitter. Telegram is on the hunt for a new Android developer to join its core team in Dubai. But there’s a twist: the only way to get the job is to win the Telegram Android Contest 2025.

What awards will you get? A prize pool of fifty thousand dollars is up for grabs, and not only this the winner may even get a full-time role at Telegram’s Dubai office with an annual salary of one million US dollars, after taxes. In Indian currency, that’s over eight crore rupees, a staggering figure for any developer.

The contest is already live, and entries are open to developers from all over the world. The deadline to submit is July 11, 2025, with results expected later that month. What you need to do? Participants are tasked with redesigning the profile section of the Telegram Android app. This includes user profiles, business pages, group profiles, and channel profiles. The designs must closely follow the official mock-ups provided by Telegram and work seamlessly in both light and dark themes. All associated tabs and sections, such as the gift view, must be included.

While Telegram encourages developers to build these screens from scratch, using existing code is allowed so long as the final result preserves the app’s high standards for performance and stability. The company has emphasized strict coding guidelines. All submissions must be written in Java, with no third-party UI frameworks allowed. The new designs should integrate smoothly with Telegram’s current Android codebase and be free from bugs, crashes, or visual glitches.

Submissions will be accepted through Telegram’s @ContestBot, and detailed instructions for submitting entries will be released closer to the deadline.

Once entries are in, Telegram’s team will evaluate them carefully, focusing on code quality and performance. The best submissions will be tested across various Android devices to ensure they meet the high expectations Telegram users have come to expect.

For Android developers with talent, creativity, and a passion for clean code, this could be the chance of a lifetime. Telegram isn’t just offering a job but it’s offering a career-defining opportunity.
